Matt Hull is a trumpet player and composer from Boston, living in Brooklyn, NY. Hull is nostalgic for, and inspired by, soft radio static and novelty hand-held radios. This has lead to the creation of his current band, Radio Brass, and his latest solo effort, “Dreams of Radio Brass”.
Hull was a member of the indie rock/jazz outfit Really From, being the sole horn player was once referred to by WBUR as a “one-man brass band”. He has performed and/or recorded with many notable artists in various indie rock, jazz, funk and punk circles: I Kill Giants, Goosepimp Orchestra, The World Is A Beautiful Place & I Am No Longer Afraid to Die, Jer, Skatune Network, We Are The Union, Mt. Oriander, Patrick Talesfore, Jr., Max Ridley, Zoe Rose de Paz, Andrew Dow, Sloppy Jane, Peaceful Faces and John Cushing Big Band. He regularly plays with Brooklyn-based post-hardcore/indie band Stay Inside, NYC brass band Underground Horns, his band Radio Brass and is one half of the experimental horn duo, Lewis Lamp.
Hull maintains a busy freelance schedule performing, writing, recording and teaching in NYC.
